So your flights are booked, the countdown is on, your suitcase is on your bed when the fear sets in. You're definitely forgetting something. Well, no need to worry because this list has got you covered.

Figuring out what to bring to Thailand can be pretty tricky. The weather is generally warm and you're probably going to be spending a fair amount of time outdoors, whether it be lying on a beach, hiking through the jungle or walking to temples.

Here are some essential items to bring with you for your next holiday.

1. Filtered water bottle

Many tourism companies advise against drinking the tap water in Thailand. There are a number of purified water stations throughout the country where you can fill up your water bottle and save the planet at the same time by not throwing plastic bottles into landfill!

2. Power Adapter

Power sockets in Thailand are 22V AC electricity. You may need to buy an adapter if your country doesn't use two-prong round or flat plugs.

3. Passport Holder

An over-the-shoulder passport holder is great for an extra sense of security. It reduces your risk of being pick-pocketed, as you can wear the holder under your clothes, and can keep credit cards and other valuables with your passport as well.

4. Sunscreen

According to STA Travel, Thailand has an annual mean temperature of 28°C or 82°F. Which means it's going to be WARM. It's always best to be sun smart and remember, as they say in Australia, there's nothing healthy about a tan.

5. Walking Shoes

This is a travel no-brainer, no matter where your destination is. Comfortable quality walking shoes are a must. Walking is often the cheapest and easiest way to get around and explore. Especially if you're planning on hiking.

6. Waterproof Camera

Water activities are very popular in Thailand, and your Instagram feed will thank you later if you are able to snap some shots from below the waves.

7. Backpack

Having a good quality backpack, especially one that locks, is great for travelling. It allows you to carry everything you need for the day, including the items on this list ;)

8. Rain poncho

Thailand can be very wet, and you should expect it to rain at some point during your travels. Carrying a poncho that you can roll up and keep in your backpack means you are ready for all weather.

9. Hand Sanitiser

I personally feel that if you are going to any tourism destination, especially very busy ones, it's in your best interest to carry hand sanitiser with you. Who wants to get sick while on holiday?

10. Quick Dry Towel

These are perfect if you are going from place to place, and are even better if you are staying in hostels. As the name suggests, they dry quickly and you can keep them in your bag without fear of dampening your other possessions.
